RV Water Filters
Make Clean Water As You Drive Down the Road!
RV water filters are an absolute necessity when you spend any time outdoors or travelling. One never knows what the water quality will be like at every campground, state or even every country. You can't be too careful when it comes to your drinking water supply. Take the worry out of your vacation by always having a clean water source everywhere you go in your travelling home! Instead of bringing cases of bottled water with you and taking up valuable space in the RV - why not look into the different methods of filtering your drinking water with camping water filters.
Types of water filter systems for use in an RV
If you don't have a lot of space in your RV, you can use Brita water filters to filter your drinking water. Everpur and Waterpur both have great RV fresh water filtration units. If you want to filter the water that you use for drinking and cooking you can look at the possibility of using a ceramic filter or an ultra-violet unit. If you choose a ceramic filter, there are three types of cartridges:
- Doulton ceramic cartridges are hailed as the best. They remove the sediment from the water and any bacteria that may be present as well. You can have an Imperial cartridge in a plain ceramic shell or an Ultracarb cartridge, which has a solid black carbon core and ion-exchange resins to remove lead and other metals from the drinking water.
- De-ionization cartridges use special resin beads to purify the water you use for drinking. This is the kind of cartridge that you can use if you only need a limited supply of pure water.
- Phosphate cartridges help make the water taste better. These cartridges are most often used to reduce lime from building up inside a water heater and pipes, but they are suitable for using in RVs.
The ultra-violet filtration units consist of a stainless steel water chamber that will last a long time. It will also stand up to the wear and tear of being in a moving vehicle, often over bumpy roads. It is designed so that it will not take up a lot of space, but yet deliver pure drinking water to the tap.
Portable RV filters
The idea behind these water filters is that they need to be portable - able to be carried from place to place very easily. If you are going on a trip, then you need to have a filtration system that is not too heavy or cumbersome to carry. You can boil all the water and then cool it, but that takes a lot of time and effort. When you are traveling, it's much more advantageous to have cool, clean water on demand when you need it.
Water filters for camping take the worry out of a vacation when you have to be constantly on the lookout for sources of pure water. If you are backpacking through another country or if you park your RV in out of the way places, you will always be certain that you'll have a good supply of healthy drinking water on hand.
